phancy.com rating:

phancy.com notes: Barely over an hour if you don't count the credits, this is a delightful comedy-horror soufflé. There's technically some light social commentary, but the killer pants are the real star of the show. The puppetry work on them is top-notch and consistently inventive and hilarious. Bonus: The credits show some behind-the-scenes footage.

2.5 out of 4 stars - rogerebert.com

Underneath all the mayhem is a humanitarian message that co-writers Kephart and Patricia Gomez dutifully deliver without deepening its significance—in the aftermath, you might crave a bit more substance than the film's thin 77-minute running time is prepared to offer. In that regard (and without spoiling the nature of these killer jeans), themes like excessive consumption, corporate exploitation, and worker rights get teased but not necessarily interrogated. Then again, Slaxx isn't that kind of a serious film. What it also isn't is Peter Strickland's highly stylized killer dress flick In Fabric. Here, the effects are purposely on the cheap (they will make you giggle) and the acting is deliberately over the top. Once you accept these quirks, there's some blood-spattered pleasure to be had with Slaxx and its amusing twist on a survive-the-night slasher.

Fast Fashion Gets Its Revenge in Killer Pants Horror-Comedy Slaxx

It must be said that Slaxx comes up with some wonderfully creative demonstrations of just how a pair of pissed-off pants might take down a human victim. Watching those vicious, animated pants in action is really the main reason to watch Slaxx. We all know that fast fashion comes from an insidious place, and any corporate culture that tries to brainwash its employees and customers into buying into slogans like "make a better tomorrow today" (as CCC does, repeatedly) is immediately not to be trusted. But if you're looking for a fast-paced, fun, occasionally extremely gross horror-comedy with some social commentary tucked in behind all the severed torsos and spurting limbs - Slaxx definitely fits the bill.
